One of the Citizen Corps partner programs is Fire Corps. Fire Corps is a partnership between The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), the International Association of Fire Chiefs' Volunteer & Combination Officers Section (VCOS), and the White House's USA Freedom Corps Office.

Why Join Fire Corps?
It allows emergency responders to focus on critical, life-threatening situations.
It increases a department’s ability to provide additional services to the community
and sustain ongoing programs. It provides a vital link between department and community.

lack of time to attend training or fire calls, due to working more than one job,
family commitments, or no desire to be in harm's way.... we now have an alternative.
